Welcome back! It’s been only two months and thirteen days since the last one. Not quite soon enough to be a regular blog, but a lot earlier than the last few, so progress?

It’s been a fun winter of snow, bus cancellations, road closures, and not being able to go anywhere. That made getting supplies difficult, and of course we had the child home instead of in school for the majority of the last two months. We still made progress on the house though. A few little things as well as some good progress on our kitchen. The first little thing that improved the house immensley was getting a rod into the hall closet so we had a place for our jackets and sweaters.

Remianing in the front hall for now, we also got a light installed and the switch wired up. This was necessary given the long nights we have in January and the fact that with all the snow we got most of the days weren’t sunny either. We also got the upstairs lights in the office area working. Now we don’t have to go downstairs to turn on the great room lights when the sun sets.

The last thing in the front hall area, we installed a sink. This happened almost right after I wrote the previous blog. All that’s left for this bathroom is to repaint the wall, finish the windowsil and put up the curtain we got.

Just off the front hall, we finished drywalling up the stairs. Still need to mud and paint it before we can get occupancy. I’m not sure if I mentioned it before or not, but yes our stairs are intentionally wide at four feet. This will be nice as we get older (although everything we need is on the main floor) but it was mostly done because we have moved a lot and wanted it to be easy to get furnature up and down.

On to the main room we’ve been working on the last two months, the kitchen and dining room. In the dining room we got the wall and ceiling mudded and painted and the ceiling fan installed and working. Once we get the floor installed we will move in the dining room table.

We got most of the cupboards installed, and the dishwasher hooked up and working. The fridge is still currently in the wrong spot, being where the induction cooktop we recently purchased is going to go. Since we didn’t plan for a seperate oven and cooktop we need to build a lower upboard for the cooktop. The kitchen is primed, but since we plan to tile a large part of the kitchen wall, we didn’t paint it.
We also only got two lights from auction ages ago, but then decided to go with three lights over the island (that will be put in later) so we’re looking for a middle light that will stand out but look like it belongs, instead of the simple light that’s there now.

We did get the wall oven installed though, and we got the small wall of the kitchen painted. The fridge will go in that empty spot beside the oven, and the small countertop that is there is slated to be our coffee station.

Lastly, we picked out the tile to finsh the main shower in the bathroom upstairs. Picked based on what the store had in stock as we didn’t want to wait for a shipment. This had the advantage of it also being on sale, so we manged to get the tile and everything else needed at a good price.

That is all for now. I will hopefully see you all in May, once the tax season is over. As always, thank you for following along on our journey.
