Hello everyone. I know it’s been a few weeks again where lots have happened, but my business has been growing which left little time for writing until after the HST deadline.

The first thing we got done was to get some windows installed. We hired some help to install the three sliding doors and the tall wall of windows, and they managed to install all the upstairs windows as well. That leaves only the first floor windows for us to finish. It makes a huge difference in the house now that we have the option to block the wind coming off the lake or letting it blow through the house. We also made the stairs to the basement able to be used.

Other than that we’ve been working on getting the insulation up on the outside wall. We got most of the west wall completed (not pictured) but that wall, along with the east wall, are the ones with the high peaks, so we’re thinking of bringing back the hired help to get up to the peak. They don’t seem to have any issues with heights, which we do.

Once the doors were installed we started framing the rooms upstairs. We started with the west side, which contains our daughter’s room and the main bathroom. Originally these rooms were suposed to be the same size (you may remember the floor plans I shared earlier) but as we started to plan out the bathroom we realized that it was a BIG bathroom. So we decided to shrink the bathroom and increase the size of our dauther’s bedroom, which she was not upset about.

We’re putting in a large closed underneath the one roof slope, with a planned “den” for the dog at the end of it. (We have a few small spaces planned for the dog to hide in when she wants.) Our nine-year-old has already started to plan out how she want’s to organize her stuff in her room and has been giddy over how much room she is she going to have. Clearly getting excited as she wanted to check out paint, lights, and flooring the last time I had her at Home Depot.

Even with shrinking the bathroom it will have a large walk-in shower, a seperate soaker tub (under the window), a linen closet, as well as the toilet and a sink with a vanity. It’s still a fairly large bathroom. We will have some “dead space” boxed in beside the toilet and at the back of the linen closet under the roof slope. After this we’re working on the east side of the upstairs which has two more bedrooms and now will also have another two-piece bathroom, but more on that next time. We’ve also started the front porch, but more on that next time as well.
Anyway, that’s all for now. Thank you very much for following along on our journey and for your patience as these blogs have been sporadic. We’re happy to share this process with you.
