Hello everyone. I realize it’s been over a month since the last post, and I apologize for that. My new business is going well and the weather has kept progress on the house slow.

Since finishing sheeting the roof for the covered porch on the north side we started working on the covered decks on the south side. The part of the deck that is right outside of the two twelve-foot sliding doors will be covered, leading to an uncovered part. We wanted to get the roof up for this even though we can’t dig to put the actual posts in yet as it will make sheeting the roof easier.

We put up temporary posts to get the beam into place and from there we were able to put the joists into place. Since the writing of the last post, we got all the joists up on the West side of the building and the sheets up, which allowed us to also get more sheets up for the roof. The east side isn’t done but is planned to be done over the next few days.

Doing this made us so happy that we invested in scaffolding. This is one of the best things we have spent money on, second only to the tractor. (And if you follow this blog you know how much I LOVE the tractor.) We are looking at getting more platforms so we can more space to walk along and work on, but it has already been so handy with this project.

Thank you for following along on our journey and we’ll see you soon.
