Spring is here, finally, after an April where it kept snowing when it wasn’t raining. May has brought warmer, dryer weather (mostly) so we’re getting ready to get back into gear.

The trailer I mentioned in a previous post was delivered and set up, and we’ve been working on moving in. We’re going to try having the little one in there with just the dog (with a monitor) to give the family some space and see how that goes. She’s fairly independent and already spends as much time in there as we let her, even though the house still stands.

We’ve already moved over most of her stuff as well as a bunch of stuff we’re storing in there. In order to keep it to herself, she needs to keep it clean and she needs to keep getting up in the morning in time for school. We will be checking in regularly (obviously) and there is space for us if we need but this will allow the family some breathing space from each other.
We can eat in the trailer on rainy days, but the main plan is to move the picnic table up to next to the trailer and eat most of our meals outside, which is where we’ll also spend most of our time.

So where will be sleeping? In the shop! We’ve reorganized the shop to the main area is clear and we’ve put down the floor that we pulled up from the bedrooms in the house. This space will become our computer/office area, living room, and bedroom. We’re also planning on putting in the full-size fridge from the house along with some counter space and the full-size kitchen sink (assuming we can work out water and drainage with little issue) along with a small induction cooktop. So we’ll cook in here and eat outside, or in the trailer. Though we won’t be moving in until we’re ready to start tearing down the remaining part of the house.

So that is us, looking to get moving on this construction that started as simply a fix-up renovation and has turned into a complete tear-down and re-build. It’s going to be a full summer and we’d love to have you along for the entire ride. We’re back, and you can once again look forward to a weekly blog about our progress.
