Mostly. The wood is done, now we just need to cover it with the ice and water shield.

Today feels like we finally finished the major project of moving the garage, even though in reality there is still much to do. The decking for the roof is finally completed, including all the cuts we had to do to join it to the roof of the existing shop. There was a lot of climbing up and down the scaffolding to cut boards and then nail them into place, which was a little exhausting, but we got it done.

Now that this is done we need to is to cover the roof with ice & water shield. Ideally, we would shingle it, putting the ice & water shield only at the bottom of the roof, but when we will want the roof of the shop to match the roof of the house, so it makes more sense to use what we already have to protect the wood and wait to purchase shingles for when we’ll be doing the whole thing. Now we just have the joy of lugging the heavy roll up onto the roof.

Also this week we moved the load of stone we’d received into the garage, making our driveway useable all the way to the house again. We still need to rent a plate tamper to smooth it out before the concrete guy comes to make the slab. We will be talking to the rental place and asking if they have one they’d soon be looking to sell used, in part because it would be handy to have though not worth it new compared to rental costs and in part because renting anything in this location is a pain as we need to travel to pick it up and drop it off.

Remaining stone used to smooth out and expand the driveway a little.

Some good progress this week, but not a lot to write about as it all went very smoothly. You can now leave comments and we encourage you to do so.
