The Top 5 Reasons To Get A Tractor

I know I’ve mentioned before that the tractor, despite being expensive, has been one of the best purchases we have made for this project to date. Here are the reasons why.

1) It’s efficient at taking out trees

I mentioned this one in a previous post. Using the tractor to take out trees meant that we could clear the area we needed to clear to move the driveway in a day instead of several days. The tractor knocked down the tree and removed the stump from the ground, leaving us with only making the trees into firewood with the chainsaw and dealing with the branches. It was also easier on our bodies as we didn’t have to hack at the tree with an axe or the chainsaw.

2) It’s good at demolition

Not only is it good for taking out trees, but it can also quickly knock down structures as well. We used it to take out the shed above and it only took about 20 minutes to knock it down and clean up the debris with the tractor, a task that would have taken us at least half a day to do manually. It’s one of the biggest we got the tractor as we are now preparing to tear down the whole house. Stay tuned for a further blog post where I will talk about using the tractor against the house itself.

3) It quickly loads the trailer

To the point where we’ve wished we had the tractor at the other end to unload it at the dump too. Luckily, unloading is generally easier. Whether it’s brush, a shed, or other things we need to take to the dump the tractor loads the trailer in a fraction of the time it would take us to load it. It’s now likely that we can load the trailer, take it to the dump, and unload it with time left over to do other work. Before the tractor, this was often out the entire day or we loaded it the day before we planned to take it to the dump.

4) It moves things we otherwise couldn’t move

We’ve used the tractor to add more of the rock around the property to our shoreline, including some very large ones we could roll into the bucket of the tractor, but we would never have been able to get it all the way to the shoreline. Rocks are not the only heavy lifting the tractor has done for us, as it also quickly moves piles of wood and dirt. The tractor had been a huge savior of our backs and arms.

5) It made making the new driveway a breeze

Not only did it easily push the dirt from the pile to where we needed it, but the tractor also made it easy to smooth out the driveway. Again, we managed to get done in a day that would have easily been several days manually. The driveway is what we’ve done so far, but I imagine the tractor is going to be used a lot in regards to most of the landscaping we will eventually be doing. It’s great to see the result of the hard work so quickly and will help us to stay motivated to complete the project.

To be clear, I don’t work for any tractor company and although this post may sound like an ad for a tractor, this is not paid advertising in any way. I honestly think that this machine was worth every penny we paid (and continue to pay) for it and the benefits of having it are numerous. If you’re reading this because you are planning to do anything similar yourself, I strongly urge you to consider getting one, even if it’s a lot smaller than the one we ended up getting. You can now comment on our blog posts and we encourage you to do so if you wish. You can now also subscribe to get an email every time we post so you don’t miss any going forward. Lastly, if you will be purchasing from Amazon, using one of the links on the website to do so really helps us out and doesn’t cost you a thing.

Thank you for reading along with our adventure and we look forward to hearing from you!
