The Problem With Working

Obviously, we need to work right now, but this week it caused problems with getting things done.

All weekend the weather has been cold and wet, making it very unpleasant to work in. This means we haven’t since we are not on a tight deadline for anything at the moment, but it sucks after a whole week of nice weather where we were trapped at work. The week hasn’t been a complete loss, as we did manage to get the trusses off the garage we need to move in the near future, but it’s a little discouraging when you don’t have time to work on the project when it’s nice out and the weather is miserable when we have time to work.

It also doesn’t help that the temperature dropped this weekend after a gloriously warm week. We definitely miss the freedom we had the first year of being able to work on the house whenever and the only deadlines being determined by the weather. Sure, we had to ensure we finished the roof before heavy rainfall, but we could do that since we didn’t have to give up the prime working hours to be inside at an office.

Advice we can’t follow ourselves: If you are going to do a major project like this one, if you plan to tear down a house and build a new one, it is beneficial if at least one worker can focus on that. But life has a way of dictating what you need to do sometimes and right now we need to work around employment. It’s just the way it is.

Sorry for the really short post this week but, as stated, we didn’t do much. You can now leave comments and we encourage you to do so. You can also sign-up for a mailing list so you never miss a new post. Please also follow us on Facebook for additional photos of the work being done. Thank you for following us on our journey and I look forward to seeing you (hopefully) next week.
