What we hope to accomplish before the snow flies again.

1) Replace the roof on the shop
Among the first things we wish to do is to replace the roof on the shop and add insulation before we re-shingle to help keep the shop warm with less propane next winter. We already have all the materials to accomplish this as we purchased all the shingles and such last summer.

2) Finish cleaning up the brush
As I have mentioned in previous posts, we have a lot to clean up from cutting down the trees right before winter hit. We have already started clearing this brush, taking some to the dump and turning some into wood for the campfire. We already have a lot to burn over the course of the summer.

3) Replace the roof on the living room and install all main floor windows / doors.
We need to replace the remaining roof on the house as well as install the 16 foot glass sliding door that will go in this spot and the rest of the windows we purchased last year. This door will be a challenge to install.

4) Clean out crawlspace and insulate in living room.
We wish to put close cell spray foam the rest of the crawlspaces as we did for the western room last year. That room was the easiest to keep warm this past winter and our heating costs will go drastically down with that done to the rest of the house. First we need to clean out the crawlspaces first, so this can be done.

5) Build a new woodshed
In preparation for next winter, we want to build a permanent wood shed for the wood to be burned indoors. At this point, we’re not sure where we are going to put it, but we need a place to keep the wood where it can stay dry all winter no matter which way the wind blows.

One thing we did do this week was to build a gate to keep our new puppy downstairs. Stay tuned as we tackle this list over the next few months. For more pictures of the progress like our Facebook page and, as always, thanks for reading!
