Spring Has Sprung

Spring is here and has brought rain and a lot of cleaning of the yard.

As mentioned in last week’s blog The Things Snow Hides, the snow melting showed us a lot of branches and such that needed to be cleaned up, so we have already made use of our outdoor fire pit this season to do just that. Any day this week that wasn’t raining found us outside cleaning up what we could. Garbage was put into the trailer to go to the dump and anything we could burn was put into the fire pit and burned. Having an outdoor fire was a nice sign that nicer weather is here and is only going to get nicer.

We tore down the wood tent, putting the wood we had left over away until next winter where hopefully it will be drier by then. Having that down has made the north side look a lot cleaner again and opened up the porch that is technically our front door. The area still needs to be cleaned up, but we will probably be awhile completely cleaning up the yard, and there are other things that need to be done before we start worrying about landscaping.

We also got the door for the kitchen installed this week along with laying some patio stones to give a sort-of walkway to it. We are really liking the black look for the windows and it will look sharp against the board and batten we are planning on putting up. We did end up with white lattice in the door, so we will be getting a white blind to put against it to mitigate how off it looks.

The door and window are looking nice from the inside, even with the rest of the kitchen currently unfinished. Since we are still living mainly in this half of the house while the other half is basically vacant, having this door directly into our kitchen has been wonderful, not to mention the natural light it has added to that space.

That is it for this week. Thank you again for reading and following us on this incredible journey. Stay tuned for what we get done in the coming week!
