Delay in getting permits then being sick has put us behind, but there are some things that needed to be done before the snow flies.

As mentioned last week, we started to demolish the house. This week we were busy trying to completely detach parts from the part of that house that’s going to remain standing then putting up insolation and Tyvek to new outside walls. Which we completed today.
We need to determine if getting a bin for the removal of the house is the best way to go if it would be better to do several trips to the dump with the trailer. Likely we will do a mix of the two in an attempt to leave room for the tractor to get around but not use up all our time with dump visits. We also plan to pull out as much wood as we can from the debris to either reuse or burn since the price of wood has gone up a lot in the last few months.

This week saw us having a few problems as we had to fix parts of the tractor on Sunday a couple of times, then during the week the tractor got two flat tires and the hydraulics got knocked. The roof was stubborn and almost refused to come down even with more or less nothing supporting it and our backhoe isn’t quite tall enough to get to the top of the roof. A fuse on the heating system blew on Sunday, which was fine we had a spare, but then blew twice more throughout the week, the last one on Friday after the place to get a replacement was closed. We didn’t have quite enough Tyvek to go all the way around the new external walls and putting it up was giant pain due to strong wind. Oh, and we ran over a phone with a tractor after taking pictures of the demolition, which is why there are no new pictures this week. But next week is a new week, and we still managed to get what absolutely had to be done, done. We just may end up finishing it up and doing all the clean-up in the cold and with some snow.
