We hope everyone had a great holiday season and that 2021 is going well so far. Took a bit of a break for the holidays and because all we’ve really been doing is cleaning up the house followed by more cleaning up of the house.

We are still living on-site, in the less than a thousand square feet that remain of the house. Remaining is the two bedrooms upstairs, the kitchen, the living room, and the bathroom. It’s a little bit of a tight squeeze for the three of us and the dog, but we spend as much time as possible outside. Sure we’re basically living in an apartment, but we do still have the shop and all that land.

The plan is to break ground and start construction on the new house as soon as the ground is thawed enough to do so. If we are lucky we can be living in at least part of the new house by next fall, but we’re not counting on that given our luck. Demolition was supposed to begin this past spring instead of late fall, but first, the shutdown delayed us from getting permits, and then we were sick for two months. Also, we are both working full time and need to do work on the house around our jobs.

But before we get to that we need to move the garage. You remember us building the foundation for it a few posts ago. The plan to move that is still to build an ice rink and push the building off of the current foundation and onto the new foundation. Unfortunately, the garage was full of stuff that needed to be emptied out before we can move it, including the two twelve-foot sliding doors and the sixteen-foot sliding door we purchased a while ago and are still using in the new plan. We built a wooden path between the two so we could use our dolly to make the moving of things easier.

That is all for now. You can now leave comments and we encourage you to do so. You can also sign-up for a mailing list so you never miss a new post. Please also follow us on Facebook for additional photos of the work being done. Thank you for following us on our journey and I look forward to seeing you next week.
