This week was all about the new puppy.

The big project that was completed this week was creating a dog run for the puppy. When we are outside with her, she is very good at staying near us and coming back when called, however, it didn’t take us long to realize that it isn’t practical for us to go outside every single time she needs to go to the bathroom. Sometimes we have things to finish doing inside.

So we put up a four foot high fence starting at the kitchen door, goes out to the shop, then from the back corner of the shop, down the property line, to the shed, and back to the house. The area is roughly 1,000 square feet, so not exactly a small area for our little puppy. Right now this is planned to be temporary. Not sure if we will put in a permanent one or not at this time.

Inside the dog run we have put together an agility course for the puppy, which our daughter also has fun running across. This is just an extra little thing for them to do while outside, which is where they spend the majority of the time on days where it’s not raining. It has been unseasonably cold so far this spring, but it is still great to be outside here.

In order to build this space for the dog we had to finish cleaning up all the brush that was in this area. We burned a good chunk of it, making good use of the fire pit we had built last summer. The rest ended up going to the dump along with a bunch of of the stuff that we pulled out of the living room area several weeks ago.

Thank you very much for reading this week. We did have a couple of cold and rainy days so we didn’t accomplish quite as much as we hoped, but the dog run has made things much easier. Please follow us on Facebook to be notified when a new blog is posted.
