We were trying to finish building the roof of the garage this week, but again the weather didn’t cooperate. In February when we needed it to be cold to move the garage over the ice rink we had 10+ degree Celsius weather. Now that we need it warm it’s 0 degrees Celsius and snowing!!

But we managed to start building the cross-trusses (I have no idea if that’s the right term or not) to attach the roof of the moved garage to the roof of the shop. This took a little bit of trial and error on our part as we’ve never done this before, but we think we will soon be able to put the sheeting back on.

We haven’t yet decided what we’re going to do about a roof yet, as we eventually are going to tear it off so we can give the house and the shop the same roof as the house, as well as the same siding, so whatever we do needs to be effective yet inexpensive.

The only other thing left to deal with in regards to combining the two buildings is the gap that still exists between the two buildings. We will be filling this gap with spray foam insulation and then we need to frame in the gap. We will also be using spray foam insulation in the interior of the garage as it’s already in the interior of the shop. Then the two buildings will officially be a single building that we will be using as a workshop and storage.

Sorry for the really short blog this week, but we didn’t do much (other than clean up the shop so we can move around, that was pretty huge) between working and having the child home with online learning. After being online all day we do take the dog for a long hike at the end of the school day. You can now leave comments and we encourage you to do so. You can also sign-up for a mailing list so you never miss a new post. Please also follow us on Facebook for additional photos of the work being done. Thank you for following us on our journey and I look forward to seeing you next week.
