Not a lot got done this week as the weather hasn’t been nice and we’ve been feeling under the weather for about a month and a half and still managed to get done everything else you’ve been reading about. This week, our bodies protested and we had to give them some much-needed rest, so this week is all about the interesting experience of being sick during a pandemic.
First of all, there wasn’t really a point where we were truly worried that we had caught COVID-19. There have been blessedly few cases in our area and we naturally don’t have a lot of interaction with people. The beginning of it was normal enough with me calling into work and saying I was too sick to come in. Where the interesting part came in was trying to determine at what point I could/should go back.Trying to find the balance of being safe and cautious, while also understanding that work was piling up for me and my co-workers each day that I was off. Then our daughter started with a runny nose, and although she wasn’t nearly as I was she was not allowed to go to school. Then my husband caught it as well, so the whole household was sick.
Normally you would stay home when really bad but otherwise, go about your day. During a pandemic the child had to be symptom-free for 24 hours before she could go back, so we had to keep her home while otherwise feeling fine. In fact, most of the time she was off school, she was the healthiest person in the house. It’s totally understandable why they did this, but it was an interesting experience. We got tested and, hooray, we were just regular sick. I did end up going to work off and on with some symptoms as I tried to navigate the whole nebulous “better” guideline, and perhaps due to all the extra measures in place, none of my co-workers caught it. It’s also possible it just wasn’t that contagious. I think it’s a combination of the two. Right now both of us still get winded after a short period of time and we seem to need extra sleep.
Sorry for the short post this week, but there wasn’t much going on. Hopefully, I will have more to report next week though we are still in the process of preparing to start demolition.
