Equipment delivery & electrical.

The equipment we purchased a few weeks ago arrived this week. In total we received: a band saw, a table saw, a drill press, a new lathe, and a sander. Since most of this equipment was purchased used, we had to spend some time cleaning it up. Getting excited having all this here and can’t wait to start building our furniture.

The band saw and the drill press came from the Rockford Auction House and the table saw we found on Kijiji, getting incredible deals on both. Since those came in under budget, we decided to get a new lathe even though it wasn’t in the original plan. The items we purchased new came from Welbeck Sawmill in Durham, ON. The equipment has all been put into their proper places within the shop, and the little one loves being out there with daddy. It will not be long before she’s making things on her own, I think.

The electrical inspection for the shop has been completed and we passed! The inspector was very happy with our decision to run an electrical track, allowing easy access to switch things up when needed. We did need to add a 20 amp red 220 wire to the shop to replace the 20 amp yellow as per his instruction.

We also completed some wiring inside the house. We moved the light by the main doorway slightly so it was more central after putting in the closet and changed the fixture in the hallway. We replaced the light in the shower with a GFI and filled the attic with more insulation. We are still chasing down drafts within the house and attempting to get them all sealed.

As always, thanks for reading, and stay tuned.
