Diversifying the way we make money.

1) Found A Job

One advantage to spring approaching is all the businesses are looking for seasonal help. I applied for many seasonal positions and managed to get one that will also offer off-season hours. I am excited for this. Not only will it help cover some of our bills, it gets me out of the house and gives me another way to meet those in the community, whether seasonal or year-round.

2) Started A Business

Since I have a background in finance and accounting, I have opened a business in that field. Unfortunately, I opened this business just as everyone left for the winter and businesses take time to build no matter where you are. However, I am getting some calls from potential clients and this has made some money to pay some of the bills. I am optimistic that this will be viable within the next year or so.

3) Freelance Writing

This blog isn’t the only thing I write. It hasn’t been much, but I have made money writing stories, articles, and web content for other people through websites like Upwork. I love writing, so I love the work and the fact that I can make any money doing it is just a bonus. On top of that I am working on writing my own fiction novel that may or may not lead to something. Either way I hope to have a first draft done by the end of 2019

4) Woodworking

Since we have spent the money to build up a really nice wood shop, and he will be getting a lot of practice working with wood as he builds things for around the house, he will be offering pieces for others too. Eventually, he will be able to make kitchen cabinets, tables, chairs, coat hooks, wands, night side tables and more for sale. We can sell these things to members of the community as well as make them available online.

5) Stop Motion Animation YouTube Videos

Granted, we haven’t started this one yet, however, our daughter has shown an interest in stop motion animation, we already have a camera, and the software to do it is inexpensive. Perhaps this ends up being only a hobby we encourage our daughter to explore and a fun thing to do as a family, but you never know what will go viral…
